Dr Anne Collins is an experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Dunedin, New Zealand, with specialist registration through both the Medical Council of New Zealand and the Irish Medical Council. She completed her specialist plastic surgery training in Ireland before undertaking advanced fellowship training in Australia, developing particular expertise in breast surgery, body contouring, skin cancer surgery and facial rejuvenation.

As Medical Director of The Surgery, a premier plastic surgery centre in Dunedin, Dr Collins is dedicated to providing personalised care in a warm and welcoming environment. Her approach combines professionalism, technical precision and an appreciation of natural form, helping patients make informed decisions and achieve outcomes tailored to their individual needs and goals.

Dr Collins’ Philosophy

With a thoughtful, patient-centred approach, Dr Collins takes the time to understand each individual's goals, concerns and priorities. She works collaboratively with her patients to develop a treatment plan, providing personalised care and support throughout every stage of the journey.

Every patient is unique. I believe the best outcomes come from listening first, understanding your goals and expectations and working together to make informed decisions grounded in the most up-to-date evidence.

Training and Academia

After graduating with honours from University College Dublin in 2004, Dr Collins completed specialist plastic surgery training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In 2015, she was awarded Fellowship of both the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. She subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in Sydney, gaining further expertise in microsurgical breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body, and hand surgery.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Collins maintains a strong commitment to teaching, research and academic excellence. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago and actively contributes to the education and training of medical students, junior doctors and future plastic surgeons. She was awarded a Master of Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has received numerous scholarships, fellowships, grants and national and international awards recognising her contributions to plastic surgery, surgical education and research, including the Dr Richard Steevens Scholarship and the Kilner Prize.
