What Profhilo Can Achieve
As we age, the production of collagen and elastin gradually declines and the skin loses hydration, elasticity and firmness. This can lead to fine lines, dullness and a crepey texture, particularly across the face and neck.
Profhilo® is an injectable bioremodelling treatment designed to improve skin quality from within. It delivers a high concentration of hyaluronic acid within the skin, where it disperses evenly and supports collagen and elastin production. Rather than adding volume, Profhilo enhances hydration, texture and overall radiance, resulting in healthier and more resilient skin over time.

Your Treatment Journey
Your treatment journey begins with a personalised consultation at The Surgery. This allows for a detailed assessment of your skin quality, facial anatomy and individual concerns and helps determine whether Profhilo, Profhilo Structura or a combined approach is most appropriate for you.
Numbing cream is routinely used for comfort and nitrous oxide is also available if required. Profhilo is administered through a series of carefully placed injections. The standard treatment protocol is two treatments spaced four weeks apart with results developing progressively over the following weeks and months. Maintenance treatment is commonly recommended approximately every six months to support ongoing skin quality and long-term skin health.

Recovery and Aftercare
Profhilo involves minimal downtime. Small raised bumps at injection sites are common immediately after treatment and typically settle within 24 to 48 hours. Mild redness, swelling or bruising may occur and usually resolve within a few days.
Makeup is best avoided until the following day. Strenuous exercise should be deferred for 24 to 48 hours and saunas, spas, steam rooms and ice baths should be avoided for several days afterwards. Specific guidance regarding dental work or other aesthetic treatments will be discussed during your consultation.

Is Profhilo Right for You?
Profhilo may be suitable if your concerns include dehydration, loss of firmness or skin texture changes and you would like to improve overall skin quality and glow without adding volume.
A consultation at The Surgery allows for a personalised assessment and treatment plan tailored to your anatomy, goals and long-term skin health, ensuring subtle, natural results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid bioremodelling treatment designed to improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that restore volume in specific areas, Profhilo disperses evenly within the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, supporting improvements in hydration, elasticity, texture and tone of the face and neck. Over time, this contributes to healthier, more resilient and more radiant skin.
Profhilo, Sunekos, Rejuran and Sculptra are injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality and overall skin health. However their mechanisms of action differ.
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid bioremodelling treatment. It improves skin quality by deeply hydrating and remodelling the extracellular matrix, creating an environment that supports collagen and elastin production. This leads to improvements in hydration, elasticity and texture and is well suited to addressing the early signs of ageing.
Sunekos is a bioregenerative treatment that combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids to stimulate fibroblast activity. This supports the natural production of collagen and elastin and is commonly used to address fine lines, early skin laxity and changes in skin texture.
Rejuran is a polynucleotide-based bioregenerative treatment that supports cellular repair and regeneration within the skin. It improves skin texture, tone and vitality and is particularly well suited to the delicate area around the eyes.
Sculptra is a biostimulatory treatment that stimulates the body’s own collagen production using poly-L-lactic acid. It improves skin firmness and resilience over time by reinforcing the skin’s natural framework.
The most appropriate treatment depends on skin quality, facial anatomy and individual concerns. In many cases these treatments may be used sequentially or in combination as part of a comprehensive long-term approach to skin health discussed during your consultation.
Profhilo Structura utilises the same hyaluronic acid technology as Profhilo but is designed for deeper placement within the tissues. It is used to address early structural change, including skin laxity and subtle shifts in facial volume, while maintaining a natural appearance. It may be used on its own or in combination with Profhilo depending on individual anatomy and treatment goals.
Profhilo Body may be used to improve skin quality in selected areas such as the décolletage, inner arms, hands and abdomen. Treatment protocols differ from facial Profhilo and typically involve a course of two to three treatments spaced approximately one month apart.
Preparing well is an important part of your treatment journey and helps improve outcomes. When it comes to non-surgical facial rejuvenation, skin quality plays a key role in supporting and maintaining results from injectable and bioremodelling treatments. Medical-grade, evidence-based skincare helps preserve skin barrier function, enhance collagen signalling and strengthen antioxidant resilience. Optimising the skin before treatment may help reduce inflammation and promote a smoother, more predictable response.
If you are prone to bruising it may be helpful to avoid alcohol and non-essential blood-thinning supplements in the days leading up to treatment where safe to do so. Please do not stop prescribed medication unless advised by Dr Collins or the team.
Profhilo is administered using a standardised injection technique. Profhilo Structura is administered using a cannula with a single entry point on each side of the face. Numbing cream is used to improve comfort and nitrous oxide is available if required. Temporary bumps at injection sites are expected and typically settle within 24 to 48 hours.
Profhilo and Profhilo Structura typically involve an initial course of two treatments spaced four weeks apart for the face. Treatment of the neck may require an additional treatment in some patients depending on skin quality and the degree of laxity. Improvements in skin quality develop progressively over the weeks and months following treatment with results supported through ongoing maintenance.
Injectable treatments are tailored specifically for you. Outcomes, longevity and recovery vary and depend on a number of factors including anatomy, technique and individual response. Treatment suitability and expected outcomes are discussed during your consultation.
Makeup is best avoided until the following day. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours. Saunas, spas, steam rooms and ice baths should be deferred for several days to minimise inflammation and swelling. Dental work and certain aesthetic or energy-based treatments are best deferred for approximately two weeks with appropriate timing discussed during your consultation.
LED light therapy is routinely used at The Surgery to support recovery and skin health following injectable treatments.
The Healite LED system delivers specific wavelengths of light that support the skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation processes. Yellow light helps reduce inflammation and support early post-treatment recovery. Red light supports collagen and elastin production, improving skin tone, texture and overall skin vitality.
A session of yellow LED light therapy is included after each of your Profhilo treatments at The Surgery. Treatment is non-invasive and involves no downtime.
Additional LED treatments including red light therapy for skin rejuvenation may be recommended as part of an ongoing skin health programme depending on individual needs.
Most patients are able to return to work on the same day as treatment. Mild redness or small injection-site bumps may be visible initially.
You may resume driving following your treatment provided you feel fully alert and well.
Facial rejuvenation is not a single event but a continuum. High-performance, medical-grade skincare helps support skin health, protect barrier function and maintain the skin quality improvements achieved with Profhilo. Appropriate skincare and sun protection play an important role in maintaining healthy, resilient skin over time.
Profhilo is generally avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in patients with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or in the presence of active skin infection or acute illness.
Caution may be required in patients with autoimmune or inflammatory conditions, a history of abnormal scarring or those who have undergone certain facial aesthetic treatments. Timing may also be adjusted following recent vaccination to minimise overlapping inflammatory responses. Suitability and timing are assessed on an individual basis during your consultation.
Profhilo is generally well tolerated. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or small raised bumps at injection sites may occur and usually settle within hours to a few days.
Less commonly, inflammatory or hypersensitivity reactions may occur resulting in prolonged swelling or firmness at injection sites. As with any injectable treatment, there is a small risk of infection due to disruption of the skin barrier.
Reactivation of cold sores (herpes simplex virus) may occur in susceptible individuals following treatment.
Very rarely, unintended injection into a blood vessel may occur and may cause skin injury if not promptly treated. Your individual suitability for treatment and potential risks will be discussed during your consultation.
