What Rejuran Can Achieve

As we age, the skin’s natural regenerative capacity slows. Collagen and elastin production decreases, cellular repair becomes less efficient and the skin may appear thinner, duller and less resilient. These changes can contribute to fine lines, uneven texture, reduced vitality and a tired appearance.

Rejuran® is a bioregenerative injectable treatment made from polynucleotides, biologically active molecules derived from salmon DNA. Polynucleotides support tissue repair and regeneration within the skin, encouraging fibroblast activity and collagen and elastin synthesis. This leads to improvements in skin quality, including texture and tone, with enhanced hydration occurring as part of healthier skin function.

Your Treatment Journey

Your treatment journey begins with a personalised consultation at The Surgery. This allows for assessment of your skin quality, facial anatomy and individual concerns and helps determine whether Rejuran, Rejuran i or a combined approach is most appropriate for you.

Numbing cream is routinely used for comfort and nitrous oxide is also available if required. Rejuran i is administered using a series of superficial injections, while Rejuran is delivered using the Rejumate injection device, allowing precise and consistent delivery. An initial course typically involves three sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart with maintenance commonly recommended every six months to support ongoing collagen stimulation and long-term skin health.

Recovery and Aftercare

Rejuran treatments involve minimal downtime. Small raised injection bumps are common immediately after treatment and typically settle within 24 hours. Mild redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur and usually resolve within a few days.

Makeup is best avoided until the following day. Strenuous exercise should be deferred for 24 to 48 hours and saunas, spas, steam rooms and ice baths should be avoided for several days afterwards. Specific guidance regarding dental work or other aesthetic treatments will be discussed during your consultation.

Is Rejuran Right for You?

Rejuran may be suitable if your concerns include skin texture changes, dullness or a tired appearance and you would like to improve overall skin quality and vitality. Rejuran i may be considered if your priority is addressing crepiness, dark circles and early signs of ageing around the eyes.

A consultation at The Surgery allows for a personalised assessment of your skin and facial anatomy, with a treatment plan tailored to you and your long-term skin health.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rejuran?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Rejuran is a bioregenerative injectable treatment made from polynucleotides, biologically active molecules derived from salmon DNA. It is designed to support the skin’s natural repair processes by stimulating fibroblast activity and encouraging collagen and elastin synthesis. This leads to improvements in skin texture, tone and overall skin quality, with enhanced hydration occurring as part of healthier skin function.

Rejuran supports skin health rather than adding volume and may be performed on the face, neck or the delicate area around the eyes.

What are the differences between Profhilo®, Sunekos®, Rejuran and Sculptra®?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Profhilo, Sunekos, Rejuran and Sculptra are injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality and overall skin health. However their mechanisms of action differ.

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid bioremodelling treatment. It improves skin quality by deeply hydrating and remodelling the extracellular matrix, creating an environment that supports collagen and elastin production. This leads to improvements in hydration, elasticity and texture and is well suited to addressing the early signs of ageing.

Sunekos is a bioregenerative treatment that combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids to stimulate fibroblast activity. This supports the natural production of collagen and elastin and is commonly used to address fine lines, early skin laxity and changes in skin texture.

Rejuran is a polynucleotide-based bioregenerative treatment that supports cellular repair and regeneration within the skin. It improves skin texture, tone and vitality and is particularly well suited to the delicate area around the eyes.

Sculptra is a biostimulatory treatment that stimulates the body’s own collagen production using poly-L-lactic acid. It improves skin firmness and resilience over time by reinforcing the skin’s natural framework.

The most appropriate treatment depends on individual skin quality, facial anatomy and individual concerns. In many cases these treatments may be used sequentially or in combination as part of a comprehensive long-term approach to skin health which is discussed in detail during your consultation.

What does the treatment involve?

Numbing cream is routinely used to improve comfort and nitrous oxide is available if required. Rejuran i is administered using a series of superficial injections, while Rejuran is delivered using the Rejumate injection device allowing precise and consistent delivery.

Temporary swelling or small raised bumps at injection sites are expected and typically settle within 24 hours.

How many treatments will I need?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Rejuran typically involves an initial course of three treatments spaced approximately four weeks apart. Maintenance treatment is commonly recommended every six months to support ongoing collagen and elastin stimulation and help maintain improvements in skin quality.

Improvements develop progressively over the weeks following treatment with results supported through ongoing maintenance.

How can I best prepare for my treatment?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Preparing well is an important part of your treatment journey and helps improve outcomes. When it comes to non-surgical facial rejuvenation, skin quality plays a key role in supporting and maintaining results from injectable and bioregenerative treatments. Medical-grade evidence-based skincare helps preserve skin barrier function, enhance collagen signalling and strengthen antioxidant resilience. Optimising the skin before treatment may help reduce inflammation and promote a smoother more predictable response.

If you are prone to bruising it may be helpful to avoid alcohol and non-essential blood-thinning supplements in the days leading up to treatment. Please do not stop prescribed medication unless advised by Dr Collins or the team.

Do outcomes vary between individuals?

Injectable treatments are tailored specifically for you. Outcomes, longevity and recovery vary and depend on a number of factors including anatomy, technique and individual response. Treatment suitability and expected outcomes are discussed during your consultation.

What precautions will I need to take after my treatment?

Makeup is best avoided until the following day. Strenuous exercise should be deferred for 24 to 48 hours. Saunas, spas, steam rooms and ice baths should be avoided for several days to minimise inflammation and swelling. Dental work and certain aesthetic or energy-based treatments are best deferred for approximately two weeks with appropriate timing discussed during your consultation.

What role does LED light therapy play in recovery?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

LED light therapy is routinely used at The Surgery to support recovery and skin health following injectable treatments.

The Healite LED system delivers specific wavelengths of light that support the skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation processes. Yellow light helps reduce inflammation and support early post-treatment recovery. Red light may be recommended as part of an ongoing skin health programme to support collagen production and overall skin vitality.

A session of yellow LED light therapy is included after each of your Rejuran treatments at The Surgery. Treatment is non-invasive and involves no downtime.

Additional LED treatments including red light therapy for skin rejuvenation may be recommended as part of an ongoing skin health programme depending on individual needs.

When can I return to work?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Most patients are able to return to work on the same day as treatment. Mild redness and small injection-site bumps may be visible initially.

When can I resume driving?

You may resume driving following your treatment provided you feel fully alert and well.

Is skincare important after Rejuran?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Facial rejuvenation is not a single event but a continuum. High-performance medical-grade skincare helps support skin health, protect barrier function and maintain the skin quality improvements achieved with Rejuran. Appropriate skincare and sun protection play an important role in maintaining healthy resilient skin over time.

Who may not be suitable for Rejuran?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Rejuran is generally avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in the presence of active skin infection or acute illness.

Caution may be required in patients with autoimmune or inflammatory conditions, a history of abnormal scarring or those who have undergone certain facial aesthetic treatments. Timing may also be adjusted following recent vaccination to minimise overlapping inflammatory responses. Suitability and timing are assessed on an individual basis during consultation.

What are the risks associated with Rejuran?
Black downward arrow inside a pink circle.

Rejuran is generally very well tolerated. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or small raised bumps at injection sites may occur and usually settle within hours to a few days. Less commonly inflammatory or hypersensitivity reactions may occur resulting in prolonged swelling or firmness at injection sites. As with any injectable treatment there is a small risk of infection due to disruption of the skin barrier.

Reactivation of cold sores (herpes simplex virus) may occur in susceptible individuals following treatment although this is uncommon. Very rarely unintended injection into a blood vessel may occur and may result in skin injury if not promptly recognised and managed. All potential risks and aftercare are discussed in detail during your consultation.
